WORKSHOPS

Over lockdown did you want to chat with someone who wasn’t in your bubble?
Did you want to make something which wasn’t banana bread?
Were you fed up with sitting at home in elasticated clothing?

I did, and thus the idea of ‘Millinery Experiences’ came about!
I want to get folk together with food and drink, talking, chatting and making something for themselves.
Let me introduce you to my millinery experiences.

If you would like to book one of these as a private party, please do get in touch.

FASCINATEAS

Whether you prefer a vintage vibe from the 1950’s or a 1920’s Art Deco style, you can make a fascinator to suit you! If high street hat’s don’t fit you, either too big or too small, don’t worry – these designs can be made for any head size.

Over the course of 2 ½ hours you will be guided through making your own fascinator. There will be an assortment of ribbon, flowers, feathers and trims for you to create something unique to you.

Before you start your own creation, you’ll be able to try on some examples, so you can pick out what suits you.

  • Do you like colour contrasts, or prefer in similar tones ?
  • Do you prefer one big statement, or something smaller and understated?
  • Do you know if you look better like the Duchess of Cambridge (hat slanting from bottom right to top left)?
  • Or are you an Amal Clooney (hat slanting from bottom left to top right)

Just as the Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland says, ‘ It’s always tea time’ so we’ll make time for tea and cakes too.

Basic sewing skills are required, but if you might struggle, don’t worry, I’ll help!

COCKTAIL HATS AND COCKTAILS

Perhaps you would prefer to accompany your hat making experience with cocktails and canapes rather than tea and cake?

Over 2 ½ hours you’ll produce a headpiece as in the fascinatea workshop, but perhaps you might choose more sparkle for an evening out? The choice is up to you.

I’ll guide you through making your own headpiece. There will be an assortment of ribbon, flowers, feathers and trims for you to create something unique to you. Plus there will be veiling, which I’ll show you how to position so you can still sip your drink!

Before you start your own creation, it’s time to indulge in ‘dressing up’ where you’ll be able to try on some examples, so you can pick out what suits you and your personality.

Basic sewing skills are required, but if you might struggle, don’t worry, I’ll help!

After you’ve created your unique headpiece, there will be time to wear it, and relive the glamour of the 1920s.
