Bespoke Consultation
‘ Help! I need at hat, but they just don’t suit me’ is a phrase which I hear a lot!
Or you’ve seen a hat in the Read to Wear section but wonder if you can have it in a colour to match your outfit.
My ultimate goal is to provide you with a hat or fascinator you love wearing and are comfortable in.
Let me walk you through what to expect in a consultation for a bespoke commission.
How does it work?
The starting point for your bespoke commission starts with an appointment at my studio, just outside Saffron Walden. Bring your outfit with you, as that is the starting point to either colour match or contrast your overall look. Please feel free to bring a friend whose opinion you trust for an impartial point of view.
Over a tea or coffee we will start by trying on existing samples and work out what shapes and colours best suit you. It’s good to work out what you really DON’T like when wanting to create that special piece.
We will then look at trims – for example do you want handmade flowers , in silk, or leather? Or are you more of a vintage person? Perhaps you prefer a simpler , sculptural look, or a huge statement bow?
We will also look at ‘how do you get it to stay on your head’ by seeing what sort fitting works best for you, elastic, headband or comb, or a combination of those.
Once we have narrowed down the options, I will give you a quotation. In order for me to proceed, a 25% deposit is requested.
How long does it take?
In order to ensure I have time to source materials, and then make the hat, the minimum bespoke order time is 4 weeks. If you are looking at a shorter turnaround than this, please contact me, as dependent on both my diary, and raw materials stock, it may be possible to accommodate your request.
I will keep you updated with progress of your hat with photographs via email. I’d request that another visit is made to the studio when all components are made before I stitch them together to ensure that the exact positioning and fitting is just as you want it!
How much does it cost?
Fascinators start at £50
Small headpieces start at £120. These increase in price, depending on trim.
Larger sculptural hats start at £200
