A freeform sculptural hat with sharp angles. Perfect when you want something just a little bit different, to stand out from the crowd.
One of my clients told me it was a piece of art rather than a hat!
The hat is made from a stiff woven fabric. It was soaked to make it pliable, then quickly styled into pleats before pinning and sewing into shape.
It is mounted on a sinamay base, and secured to the head with a headband.
Shanghai is named after the city where I bought this fabric, when on a business trip. I was quite taken with the angles in the buidlings, on both both traditional and modern architecture.
