Portfolio – Interlaken

A beautiful silk button hat, pale blue with a silver pattern woven into the thread. The hat is decorated with ribbon rosettes, to resemble snowflakes. Each snowflake has pearl beads stitched in the centre.

The whole hat is handmade by me. The base is made in buckram, with a wire added to maintain the shape, then covered with interfacing to ensure a smooth finish before covering in silk. It is then lined with polka dots

The silk is sourced from Sudbury in Suffolk, the wire comes from Great Dunmow in Essex, the buckram and ribbon from Luton in Bedfordshire, thus truly a hat with low mileage!

Diameter 6 inches /20 cm

This can be made in other colours, please contact me to discuss and allow 4 weeks from order for delivery.

Interlaken is named after a town in Switzerland . It is set on a lake, and nestled in the mountains, and the blue and white of this hat really echo the scenery. I spent some wonderful times there when I lived in Switzerland.
